Frequently Asked Questions

No! This is a beginner-friendly intermediate level course. This means you can start anywhere.

  • If you already know some Bible stories, amazing! That will help you as you go.
  • If you don’t know any? No problem! We will walk through each one together.

The course is beginner-friendly & doesn’t skip stories in the assumption that you know them, but it’s not full of beginner-level content. There’s lots of information & layers of detail. You’ll want to commit real time to working on this course and reading Scripture alongside it to fully appreciate the depth of content.

This course if perfect for anyone who is done feeling lost in the Bible and who wants to get the story straight!

You’ll be able to answer these questions and more:

  • What is the overall plot of the Bible?
  • For any given book of the Old Testament – who are the main characters, what is the genre, what is the plot, how does it relate to other books, and how does it fit into the greater story?
  • What spiritual lenses of scripture can we use to apply these stories to our lives today?
  • How do these stories point forward to Jesus in the allegorical sense of scripture?
  • What is the bloodline, birthright, & protoevangelium, and why is that a central part of Salvation History?
  • Why  did the Israelites wander in the desert for 40 years?
  • Who  were the greatest heroes and sinners of the Old Testament?
  • Which books of the Bible are fictional?
  • Who are the lesser-known characters of the Bible (Jeroboam, Caleb, Rahab, Mephibosheth, Tamar, Lot, Ezra, Zerubbabel or Hosea, to name a few) and how do they connect to the main characters?

You’ll be able to answer these questions and more:

  • For any given book of the New Testament – who are the main characters, what is the genre, what is the plot, how does it relate to other books, and how does it fit into the greater story?
  • How do these stories fulfill prophecies & allegorical lenses from the Old Testament?
  • Did Jesus actually publicly say he was God, or didn’t he?
  • Where are the Sacraments & the Catholic Mass in the Bible?
  • What is the crazy book of Revelation all about?

The Catholic Bible actually has 7 books that most Protestant Bibles do not. In the tradition of the Church, I include all 7 books in my course. Also, you’ll see that throughout the courses, there is Catholic teaching about how the Old Testament ties to the New Testament through the Mass, the priesthood, the covenant of Jesus, the Sacraments — Catholic beliefs from the time of the apostles to now!

Of course not! All are welcome, but I wanted to be very clear that all teachings here are faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

Each page of the course has a QR code on it. When you scan the QR code, you hear an audio lesson teaching you the content of the course. You simply turn it on and start taking notes in your workbook. There’s also an audio lesson that guides you through highlighting the Bible in a way that identifies the “main events” that this course covers.

Not to worry! There’s a hyperlink-pdf that I can send you. Reach out to me at thecatholicbibleclasswithmon@gmail.com and I’ll get you set up after purchase!

Any Bible that you feel comfortable highlighting in – as I recommend highly that you follow the highlighting guide. In my experience, this encourages you to read the Bible itself instead of just listen to my words! It also builds confidence in you as a reader, when you recognize the story you learned in the pages!

I also have to recommend my favorite learning Bible: Ascension’s Adventure Bible. I am not affiliated with Ascension, but I cannot recommend their Bible Timeline tool and their color-coded Bible enough! It’s so incredible!

Start with the Old Testament course. Even if you’re familiar with the Old Testament stories, this course will tie them together for you. This will give you a really necessary foundation to appreciate and understand the New Testament. Jesus preached and ministered in a very “Jewish” way which means we have to familiarize ourselves with Judea’s past to understand Jesus fully!

It’s a great starting place! I hope to grow my business onto a shop on this very page one day, but I’m taking Zechariah 4:10a to heart. 😉

If I had to describe it in scholars, I’d say my courses are: Bergsma + Swafford + Hahn + Cavins + Pitre + Fr. Mike + Msgr. Shea + Sri + Rev. Carnazzo with honorable mentions Fr. Searby, Fr. John Burns, Catholic Answers & Sofia Press textbooks!

All of these are respected Catholic Bible scholars & organizations. Their writings, lectures, podcasts, etc are where I have learned most of my course materials!

I’d love to hear ’em! Email me at thecatholicbibleclasswithmon@gmail.com. I check it every Monday.
